Medicare Supplement Options
To make comparing plans between companies easier, the government has standardized all Medicare Supplement or Medigap policies. Plans come in 11 options labeled as Plan A through Plan N (except MA, MN, and WI). Every carrier must offer Plan A but beyond that, each carrier is free to choose which plans they will offer. The Table above identifies the key benefits of each plan so you can compare plans and decide which is right for you. Some basic benefits are included in all plans including:
● Medicare Part A hospital coinsurance
● Medicare Part A extended hospital coverage (365 days after Medicare benefits end)
● Medicare Part A hospice outpatient prescription drug copayment and inpatient respite care
● Medicare Part B coinsurance*
● Medicare Part A and B first three pints of blood
